LUCK – 100 Women Who Care - Polk/Burnett recently held their August quarterly meeting at Wilkins Bar & Resort in Luck. At the meeting, four non-profit groups presented to the women, explaining their missions, needs, and what they would do with the donation if they were selected to receive it. Members voted for the group they deemed most deserving, ultimately choosing to award $10,000 to the first place winner, Workforce Resource, Inc, an organization whose mission is "Empowering People Through Employment." Our donation will help the young adults they are currently working with with housing assistance, getting established in the community, and addressing their educational, employment, health, and relationship goals. These funds will impact up to 50% of the young adults they are currently working with in Polk and Burnett Counties. The organization that received the second most votes was The League of Women Voters of St. Croix Valley, a nonpartisan, grassroots organization working to protect and expend voting rights and ensure everyone is represented in our democracy. They empower voters and defend democracy through advocacy, education, and litigation at the local, state, and national levels. Our donated funds will be used to continue these organizational goals and endeavors.
