Due to extensive member “snowbird” travel and increased possibilities for inclimiate weather, 100 Women Who Care - Polk/Burnett recently held their February quarterly meeting via online vote. Four non-profit groups submitted documents explaining their missions, needs, and what they would do with the donation if they were selected to receive it. Members reviewed those documents and 111 voted online for the group they deemed most deserving, ultimately choosing to award $10,000 to the first place winner, Interfaith Caregivers of Burnett County, a non-profit community organization focused on helping people, primarily the elderly, disabled, and veterans, and connecting them to support. They will use the donated funds to continue to grow their four major programs - Christmas for Kids, Heat a Home, Ramp Building and Small Repairs, and Support Services - in a county whose residents lack essentials. The group that received the second most votes and a $2,000 donation was Endeavors Adult Development Center, Inc., an organization whose mission is to enable adults living with disabilities to participate in and thrive within their communities by achieving their highest level of independence. They will add the donated funds to their "Growing is Our Mission” campaign with the aim of raising funds for a new building that will serve our community for many years to come.
