100 Women Who Care - Polk/Burnett held their quarterly meeting in August, welcoming a record number of members to the rapidly expanding group. Founding member Julie Hall said, “This was the first meeting of our fifth year and interest in the group keeps growing and growing. Every time we meet we welcome several new members. This month we had twelve new women join, wanting to make a difference! Because of this, our donations are also growing and we just set a record for our largest donation to date - again!"
At the meeting, three non-profit groups presented to the women, explaining their missions, needs, and what they would do with the donation if they were selected to receive it. Members voted for the group they deemed most deserving, ultimately choosing to award $13,400 to We Support Recovery, an organization focused on addiction prevention, recovery, and restoration, who will use to donated funds to host a Recovery Coach through Marshfield Clinic Health System AmeriCorps Recovery Corps. This member will serve Polk and Burnett counties from September 2022 - August 2023. They will also sponsor the Recovery Coach’s attendance at the Mental Health and Substance Use Recovery Conference in October. We Support Recovery founder Stacy Hilde said, “[The meeting] was so amazing. I loved seeing 100+ women face to face in one room. I was impressed with the efficiency and simplicity of the process - and especially the major impact a grant that size will make for smaller organizations." 100 Women Who Care - Polk/Burnett meets quarterly, on the second Wednesday evening of February, May, August and November. At each meeting, three local non-profit groups are allowed to give a brief presentation to educate members about their cause. At the end of the presentations, each member votes anonymously for the group they feel is most deserving to receive their quarterly donation. Three different non-profit groups will be chosen at random from all eligible applicants to present each quarter. All groups who apply must operate in Polk and/or Burnett, Wisconsin counties and have 501(c)(3) status. Once a non-profit is selected to receive a donation, they will be removed from the eligible pool until all applicants have had the opportunity to present to the group. If a non-profit group is chosen to present, but is not chosen to receive the donation, they will be added back to the drawing after one calendar year. 100 Women Who Care - Polk/Burnett plan to hold their next meeting on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.
