SIREN - The philanthropic group 100 Women Who Care - Polk/Burnett held their quarterly meeting on Wednesday, November 13th at Northwoods Crossing Event Center in Siren, a space generously donated by Jake and Holly Mangelsen for the the group’s use. The meeting, welcoming 131 members, was a tremendous success and the evening culminated with a $10,600 donation being made to Interfaith Caregivers of Polk County.

Interfaith Caregivers of Polk County’s mission is “To coordinate volunteers to assist seniors and adults with disabilities to maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life”. In 2018 the group arranged 4,871 rides and 3,078 other services for their clients, including a 101-year-old who needs rides to visit her dentist, and a 27-year-old with cerebral palsy who needs rides to physical therapy. Karen Krupa spoke on behalf of the group and explained they are in need of a funds to hire people to help their clients with light housekeeping, giving them the gift of independence. 100 Women Who Care - Polk/Burnett are proud to have contributed to their worthy cause.

100 Women Who Care - Poik/Burnett meets quarterly, on the second Wednesday evening of February, May, August and November. At each meeting, three local non-profit groups are allowed to give a brief presentation to educate members about their cause. At the end of the presentations, each member votes anonymously for the group they feel is most deserving of receiving their quarterly donation. Three different non-profits will be chosen at random from all applicants to present each quarter. All charities who apply must operate in Polk and/or Burnett, Wisconsin counties and have 501(c)(3) status. Once a group is selected to receive a donation, they will be removed from the eligible pool for two calendar years. If a group is chosen to present, but is not chosen to receive the donation, they will be added back to the drawing after one year.
